Safeguarding

Our Commitment

We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone who takes part in our band. We believe that every child, young person and adult has the right to participate in music-making free from abuse, neglect, bullying, harassment or discrimination.  Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and we expect all members, volunteers, committee members, tutors and visitors to help us maintain a safe and respectful environment.

Our Safeguarding Policy

We have a safeguarding policy which outlines how we protect children, young people and adults at risk, how concerns are managed, and the responsibilities of everyone involved with the band.

Our Safeguarding Officer

 Our designated Safeguarding Officer is:

Name: Trudy Bowles

The Safeguarding Officer is the first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns or questions.  If the concern involves the Safeguarding Officer, please contact the Band Chairman or Musical Director

Reporting a Concern

If you are worried about the welfare of a child, young person or adult at risk, please speak to the Safeguarding Officer as soon as possible.

All concerns will be treated seriously, sensitively and, where appropriate, confidentially. Information will only be shared with those who need to know in order to protect someone's safety.

If someone is in immediate danger, always contact the emergency services by calling 999.

Our Commitment to Safe Practice

To help keep everyone safe, we:

  • Have an up-to-date safeguarding policy that is reviewed annually.
  • Have a trained Designated Safeguarding Officer.
  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion and good behaviour.
  • Ensure concerns are recorded and managed appropriately.
  • Encourage everyone to report concerns without fear of being ignored.

Code of Conduct

 All members are expected to:

  • Treat others with kindness, dignity and respect.
  • Behave appropriately during rehearsals, performances and social events.
  • Follow instructions from band officials and event organisers.
  • Help create an environment where everyone feels safe and included.
  • Report any behaviour that causes concern.

Bullying, harassment, discrimination or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
